Photocatalytic Activity Enhancement of Low-pressure Cold-Sprayed TiO2 Coatings Induced by Long-term Water Vapor Exposure

Abstract This work shows that the titanium dioxide coatings obtained by low-pressure cold gas spraying with use of sol–gel amorphous TiO 2 powder are characterized photocatalytic activity despite their partial content. Moreover, research outcome suggests decomposition rate organic pollutants is enhanced after long-term exposure to moisture. The condensation humidity test not detrimental continuity and integrity coating, but phase composition changes—with water vapor, portion crystallizes into brookite. mechanism responsible for conversion brookite attributed water-driven dissolution reprecipitation 6 octahedra. It has been shown an additional parameter necessary stabilization oxygen depletion structure dioxide. Considering results presented in this paper advantages a portable, spray system industrial applications, it expected produced from feedstock can be further developed tested as efficient photocatalysts.
